Organized, trackable, and cost-efficient workwear management at scale

How Angel Bakery improved hygiene, efficiency, and costs with Polytex

Background

Established in 1927, Angel Bakery has grown into a large-scale food producer operating three major facilities across geographically dispersed locations and employing approximately 1,300 people. Its scale and structure require tightly coordinated operations, where consistency and reliability are essential. As a food manufacturer, strict hygiene protocols are not only a regulatory obligation but a core element of how the business functions day to day. Maintaining these standards directly supports product quality, protects brand reputation, and ensures operational continuity. In this environment, even small inefficiencies can have wide impact, making control, visibility, and discipline central to sustained performance.

Top Five Achievements

Implementing the Polytex system has enabled Angel Bakery to improve its workwear management, minimize dependence on single-use jackets, and reduce costs.

  1. Elimination of manual warehouse roles for textile distribution
  2. Real-time tracking of garment usage, laundering frequency and returns
  3. Near-elimination of disposable protective jackets
  4. More organized and controlled movement of garments, supporting improved hygiene
  5. Cost-savings through reduced manual work, lower use of disposables, and controlled inventory

Customer Testimonials

I would definitely recommend to my food industry colleagues that they use the Polytex system. It makes things a lot more organized, and it reduces costs.

Procurement Manager, Angel Bakery

Customer Needs

The legacy textile management process relied on decentralized manual warehouses at each production site. To maintain proper hygiene standards for food safety, workers are required to wear a jacket over their clothing, a head cover, and, when relevant, a beard protector. Each employee was issued five or six jackets for the week. This placed the burden of asset management on the individual worker and offered no management visibility into laundry cycles or return rates. Adapting supply to demand fluctuations through the week was difficult.

Requirements

The primary challenges identified by the procurement leadership included:

  • Automated accountability: A system to track individual employees’ garment usage and returns.
  • 24/7 operational continuity: The ability for workers to retrieve clean textiles at any time.
  • Support for hygiene compliance: Enable item-level traceability of usage and laundering
  • Easy use: A simple user experience accessible to a diverse workforce with minimal training.
  • Data-driven inventory management: Real-time monitoring to manage daily and seasonal fluctuations in staffing.
  • Space optimization: Hardware that functions as a professional, space-efficient addition to the production environment.

The Solution

Angel Bakery implemented the Polytex workwear management solution across all three production facilities, positioning automated dispensing and return units at the main entrances so workers can conveniently collect and return garments as they enter and exit production. Placing the machines at the front also serves a second purpose: their clean, well-designed appearance allows them to function almost like furniture, integrating naturally into the space rather than feeling purely operational. Each protective jacket is embedded with an RFID chip, enabling real-time tracking, while the Polytex Total Care Manager cloud-based platform provides full visibility into usage and laundry cycles and supports centralized inventory management across all sites.

  • Seamless daily flow: Entrance-based placement makes collection and return intuitive and frictionless
  • Fits the environment: Machines are designed to visually integrate into the workspace, like functional furniture
  • Full traceability: RFID-enabled jackets provide real-time tracking and visibility
  • Central control: Cloud-based platform enables usage insights and inventory management across all sites
